Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Hazy evening sunshine Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Wind filled in late resulting in a very pleasant mellow evening session at
Shoreham 5-7pm with all the regulars. Had to borrow JonL's harness (cheers
Jon) cos mine is still being repaired, no bloody Da Kine webbing available,
grrrr. Was mucho sunny when I arrived so almost thought about going out in
boardies. Good thing I didn't since it quickly got nippier as the sun
started to lower.
Planing solidly for pretty much the whole session, maybe just slightly on
the under-side of powered. Flat water and a falling tide so easy sailing.
But still I seemed to be cocking up a lot during this session, body drags
improving, but duck gybes have completely gone to pot dunno why, and
overall my dry gybe percentage was down. Due to being not proper powered up
was struggling a tad to stay upwind at times, which didn't help. Was going
for slam gybes on the outside to keep me upwind which were reasonably
successful - spinning the board round fine, but often too far, making the
clew-first waterstart and rig flip difficult.
Basically the conditions were crying out for a 100L freestyle
board....which I still haven't got. I've just missed out on one (a 2003
Skate 100) on ebay, gone for £353, which I might have paid if I'd been
awake when the auction finished at 12.30am :(
Still, a decent session, pretty much unexpected, and goes a fair way to
making up for missing today. (Wednesday, 7.45am, blowing SW 25 mph, sunny,
and I'm off to work GRRRRRR)
